“A BLOG? Why do we need THAT?”

It’s a good question, and this is only one answer.

The Long Range Planning Committee is conducting a year-long process of finding out how Or Amians see the future. The answers to the questions we’re asking will help us decide how we will grow and what our next steps will be.

In order to reach each and every stakeholder – members, and non-members, too -- \we’re using every technique in the book, and then some. We distributed response cards at High Holy Day services. We met with parents in the religious school during Sukkot. We’re arranging small get-togethers, phone interviews and other activities throughout the balance of the year.

This blog is just one more way to get your feedback. Please tell us what you think we should be doing in the future. Do you see Scout meetings being held at Or Ami? Do you think seniors should have a weekly get together? Should we consider prayer books and hymnals? What do you think about lifelong learning? What about Jewish films, music, books? How should we act toward the larger community?

Tell us what’s on your mind. Your blog entry will be anonymous but it will be posted. Hopefully, we’ll get some dialogue going about the future of Or Ami.

Thanks. And – good blogging to you!

Welcome to the Or Ami Blog!

Hello everyone,

Well, here it is, the new Or Ami blog, or as would my husband say, the "Blog Ami" (I doubt this means something in Hebrew though). Rabbi Romer has been "gently pushing" me to create this blog for a long time, so here we finally are, 6 months later.

For those of you who are new to the blogging world, here is the definition that I found on Wikipedia:

"A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual (that would be me), with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog."

So blog
on, share your ideas, comments, visions, thoughts, help our community grow even more.
